It is with great pleasure and honor I welcome all of you to yet another festival, an institution and tourist attraction for 35 years, carried out in Megaro Gyzi, one of the few historic 17th century mansions that survived the 1956 earthquake.
Gyzi Megaro Festival 2016 will take place from July 26 to August 26 with free admission to all events, thanks to the full support of the Catholic Diocese of Santorini, with a programme, embracing as always, all kinds of musical creation, art and photo exhibitions.
At this point, I would like to welcome to the Megaro Gyzi family, Konstantinos Grigoriou and George Roussos, new artistic directors of the festival, who, as of this year, have undertaken to continue the important work of its organization, promotion and realization. Two people with intense activity in the artistic and creative field, as well as in administration and management of cultural and educational units.
In conclusion, I would like to announce the expansion of the cultural events held at the Gyzi Megaro Cultural Centre, over a period that will extend throughout the year, making it not only an institution and a destination for visitors, but also a cultural center that aims to the island’s continuous and substantial upgrade.
